Project Management for Pharma- and Biotech Industry
The development of new innovative drugs is an expensive, time-consuming and risky business. Therefore, this course is intended to provide a detailed overview on the key success factors of new product development in life sciences. In particular various tools of project management will be presented, including project-targeting, development plan, milestones and decision points, project valuation (profit & loss statement), project documentation and information and knowledge management.
Special focus lies on the value of a strategic project management under the aspects of project financing, co-development and joint ventures.The course will offer sufficient time to answer questions of the participants.
Harald O. Borbe, Aspiras, Mainz, Germany, with more than 20 years experience as managing scientist in international pharmaceutical industry, covers all aspects of drug development, innovation management and strategic planning of R & D projects. Furthermore, his broad experience includes new business development and strategy assessments. Dr. Borbe studied biology at the University of Mainz with special focus on biochemistry, genetics, microbiology and pharmacology.
Anita M. Dürr, Beratung für Informationsbeschaffung und Ghostreading®, Glattfelden, Switzerland, studied philosophy, education science, psychology, mathematics and political science in Zürich and received her MBA from St. Gallen. Since 1988 she focuses on information as the 4th production factor. She is consulting companies of all sizes in gathering and managing information more efficiently and supports them in structuring complex databases and intranets in a self explaining way. Through Ghostreading (TM) and Sparring she enables decision makers to have their knowledge up-to-date as required.
Evelyn Orbach-Yliruka, EOY Zukunftsmanagement, Talheim, Germany, studied chemistry and biochemistry at the Technical University in Darmstadt. She made her thesis in the department of immunology and genetics at the German Cancer Research Centre in Heidelberg. In several multinational companies she gained experience in sales, marketing and procurement services - on the national and international level - in bio analytics, diagnostics, medical devices and pharmaceuticals. After a period as in-house consultant with Robert Bosch GmbH in the field of strategic business development, project management and knowledge management in parallel with her management study, she started consulting companies of all sizes. Since 1996 her focus is on strategic and operative business development in the health care and life sciences – giving specific attention to the potential of improving of knowledge and competency development pro-cesses.
Cathrin Pauly, Aspiras, Mainz, Germany, pharmacist, MBA and founder of ASPIRAS Project Consulting in Pharma and Biotech, earned a degree in pharmacy from Hamburg University and an MBA degree from Henley Management College. She worked for 16 years in the pharmaceutical industry and specialises in Project Management and Business Development. Her experience-based knowledge covers strategic project planning, project controlling, project valuation, the development and validation of strategic concepts and partnering transactions including product acquisition, co-development and joint ventures.
